Veazy Ridge Boys

Location: R.A. Fountain

From our promo for this evening concert:

The Veazey Ridge Boys was formed in 2005 by former members of the Willow Creek Bluegrass Band and others who had been picking regularly at bluegrass jams in Elliott Wilder’s Butner garage. They perform traditional bluegrass and bluegrass gospel.

The Boys are popular throughout the upper piedmont and have begun to make a name for themselves at regional festivals, including the Littleton Lakefest, the Ridgeway Cantaloupe Festival, the Louisburg College Folk Festival, the Ridgeway Opry House, and the Creedmoor “Music for Missions” Bluegrass Festival.

The band is named to honor the Veazey Ridge community that was bulldozed by the US government in 1941 to make way for the construction of Camp Butner. Members include Alan Reid on banjo, David Averette and Elliott Wilder on guitars, David Miller on upright bass, and Carl Norgaard on mandolin.
