[Ayden, NC] Alan Bradford Dittmar, 75, of Ayden, died peacefully on Feb. 9, after a sudden illness.

Born April 11, 1947, Alan was the son of Sandy and Bob Dittmar. After graduating from high school at TMI in 1965, Alan moved with his family to Raleigh. In 1967, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.

He was an electrician who owned his own contracting business. In 2006, Alan married Ulla-Britta (Godwin) Dittmar, and settled in Ayden. He loved to fish, play guitar, and watch sports, esp. the NC State Wolfpack.

Alan was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Jennifer Dittmar; He is survived by his wife, Ulla-Britta Dittmar; siblings, Timothy Dittmar, Craig Dittmar (Beth Nelson), Leslie Gay Dittmar, and Meredith Dittmar; nephew, Grant Vickers; stepchildren Leonard Godwin (Brianne), their children Silas and Cordelia, and Natalie Epperson (William), their children Emmitt and Evie.
