Malpass Brothers

Location: R.A. Fountain

This was originally billed as a show with George Hamilton, IV and the Malpass Brothers, who had graciously agreed to learn George’s tunes beforehand. Lightnin’ Wells made a compilation CD for them and I mailed it to them and they started working on the show, and then George called and said he had forgotten about the booking and was now giving tours of the Grand Ole Opry and couldn’t make it.

George was chagrined and apologized repeatedly. The Malpass Brothers were relieved–I hadn’t realized how hard it was going to be for them to back him up. Our audience couldn’t have cared less: we had another terrific SRO concert and everyone went home happy.
