[Fountain, NC] The Malpass Brothers return to Fountain General Store for a Friday night concert of old-time country and bluegrass music.

The Malpass Brothers, Taylor and Chris, are by far and away East Carolina’s most popular musical act. Not only do they sell out virtually every venue they play, they have also been big hits as part of Merle Haggard’s opening act. With Haggard, they’ve played the best and biggest venues in the United States.

“We always love coming back to Fountain, though,” said Chris Malpass. “That’s our kind of place and our kind of folks.”

The Malpasses have been selling out shows at Fountain for eight years, said Alex Albright, R.A. Fountain proprietor. “By now, most everyone knows if they’re coming to one of their shows here, that reserved seats are highly recommended and that it’s a good idea to arrive early.”

“They’re also poised to have a break-out year,” added Albright, who noted that they have an impressive summer festival schedule upcoming and are already booked throughout the region for most of 2014.

Chris Malpass plays guitar, Taylor plays guitar and mandolin, their father, Big Chris, plays bass, and Dennis Daniels plays drums.
