Lightnin’ Wells

Location: R.A. Fountain

Lightnin’ Wells, best known nationally as a bluesman, plays his hometown venue a couple of times year. His shows are always fun & full of songs that were originally recorded in the early & mid-20th century.

He performs Piedmont & Delta blues, early vaudeville & hokum, country, early 20th century pop, gospel, & old-time. His concerts are truly variety shows: expect a full evening’s entertainment.

Wells enjoys playing RAF not just for the crowds & the old brick-&-wood building’s acoustic resonance–it’sis one of the few places where he can bring nearly all of his instruments, & he’s an excellent performer on them all. In a typical Wells performance, he’ll play acoustic & resonator guitars, 3 kinds of ukuleles, banjo, mandolin, and harmonica.

Expect a full evening’s entertainment.

His 2024 CD Foolin’ Around features two decades of ukulele songs, and he talks about it with Silas Albright on their podcast of the same name.
