The Kentucky-based Kevin Prater Band returns to Fountain for a concert of dynamic traditional and original bluegrass this coming Friday night.

Prater, one of the best mandolin pickers in the bluegrass business, has been playing professionally for nearly 40 years. He got his start with the Dollywood house band and spent 12 years with the James King Band before striking out with his own band.

With Prater is a band of versatile musicians and singers: the Burrows brothers, Adam, the dancing fiddler, and Jake, who plays banjo and Dobro; Ryan Lester on guitar, mandolin and bass; and Michael Tyree II on bass.

Prater does much of the lead singing. Adam Burrows handles most of the band’s comedy and sings all parts while Jake Barrows takes the high tenor vocals.

“This is another of those acts we’d not be able to book in Fountain if they weren’t on their way to another show,” said Fountain General Store Proprietor Alex Albright. “But Kevin loves our venue and our crowds: this is his 4th time through, the second time with the fabulous Burrows brothers, and the first with Ryan and Michael, who has just turned 18.”
