[Fountain, NC] The Kevin Prater Bluegrass Band performs traditional and original bluegrass and bluegrass gospel at Fountain General Store this Friday night.
From eastern Kentucky, the band is fronted by vocalist Prater, who for many years was the mandolin player in bluegrass Hall of Famer James King’s band. Prater also plays guitar, bass, banjo and Dobro and writes the band’s original songs.
Danny Stiltner plays bass and sings harmony. Tom Timberlake, on banjo and guitar, also sings lead and harmony. The newest and youngest band members are the Burrows brothers: Jake on banjo and Dobro and Adam on fiddle.
The band has released six CDs, including the all-gospel Were You There? and their latest, Walking Rails and Counting Ties, which was released in 2017.
“This is another of those bands that stops by Fountain on their way to a much bigger show,” said Alex Albright, Fountain General Store proprietor. “They’re en route to a nice gig at Myrtle Beach, and because they love our crowds and our old-store atmosphere, we’re a good stopping off place.”
