Another critically acclaimed singer-songwriter, Jonathan Byrd, plays Fountain on May 5. He has been touring full-time since 2000 and won the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Artist competition in 2003. Both his singing and guitar playing have been compared to Doc Watson.

Although usually a solo performer, Byrd has put together a stellar band for his Fountain show. Paul Ford will be on cello; Johnny Waken on guitar, mandolin, and saw; and Omar Ruiz-Lopez on violin and viola.

“I don’t think you’ll find back-to-back weekends of better musical entertainment anywhere,” said Albright.
