Jonah Riddle & Carolina Express Pick Bluegrass Tomorrow Night

[Fountain, NC] Jonah Riddle and Carolina Express pick original and traditional bluegrass and bluegrass gospel tomorrow night at Fountain General Store.

From Boone, Carolina Express is fronted by 18-year-old Jonah Riddle, who plays banjo and sings lead. His 13-year-old brother, Grayson, plays guitar, and their father, Benjie, plays upright bass. Tom Isaacs is on fiddle.

The Riddle brothers are also members of Tomorrow’s Bluegrass Stars and have performed at the International Bluegrass Music Association with Kids on Bluegrass.

Bluegrass Today notes that the boys “dress the part, sing the style, and play the old ways,” and that “they are quick studies of the early pioneers of bluegrass.”

One of the best new banjo pickers on the national bluegrass scene, Jonah Riddle has been endorsed by Deering Banjos, GHS Strings, and Peterson tuners.

The band has recently played Dollywood, Bluegrass on the Plains, and the Bluegrass and Blue Water Cruise, and they have picked on stage with a host of bluegrass stars, including Doyle Lawson, Ralph Stanley, Ricky Skaggs, J.D. Crowe, and NuBlu.

Jonah Riddle and Carolina Express’s September 7 concert begins at 7:30. General admission is $10; reserved seats, $12.50. Both prices include tax.
