Gospel Highway who performs Free-at-3:00 on Sunday, is an 8-piece band of local bluegrass gospel enthusiasts who use their music as the ministry for their Christian faith. Leader Ron Carnighan, who is pastor at Monk Memorial United Methodist Church between Fountain and Farmville, sings and plays rhythm guitar. Also in the band: Roger Baker sings and plays rhythm guitar; Don Bradley sings and plays mandolin; Melissa Reel is featured vocalist; Donnie Harris plays lead guitar; Bill ñBuckî Rogers sings and plays banjo; Billy East plays bass; and Capt. Frederick Volcansek plays mandolin and guitar.

Sunday’s concert is a homecoming for Volcansek, who is returning this week from his second tour of duty as a Marine Corps pilot in Afghanistan. Rogers is a Desert Storm vet and Major in the U.S. Army Reserves.
