our promo for this concert
(Fountain, NC) The Dew Drops perform classic country at Fountain General Store this coming Saturday night.
Based in Kinston, they dress for the music they play, a mixture of classic 1950s honky tonk, Western swing, boogie, Bakersfield country, and rockabilly.
The band was founded by Kinson’s Jay Thigpen, who plays bass and sings lead. Kendall Turnage plays drums, and the Phillips brothers, Jim and Bob, play acoustic and electric guitars. Wilmington’s Bob Russell fills out the band on pedal steel.
“We’ve heard a lot about these guys,” said Alex Albright, Fountain General Store proprietor. “They’re getting comparisons to the Malpass Brothers, and we’re excited to have them in Fountain for the first time.”
