Carolina Yellowhammers

Location: R.A. Fountain

The Carolina Yellowhammers are an occasional bluegrass band comprised of some of the best pickers in East Carolina. Saturday night’s quartet will be Lane Hollis on banjo, fiddle, and vocals; Danny Morris on guitar and vocals; John Booker on acoustic bass and vocals; and Frankie Harrison on mandolin.

The Carolina Yellowhammers are named for the East Coast Railroad train that used to run from Tarboro through Fountain to Hookerton, and as homage to the old-time band the Georgia Yellowhammers. They play traditional bluegrass and old-time mountain music.

Also on Saturday, enjoy a preview of a special art and artifacts show that features original paintings of local railroad scenes by Roger Kammerer and Matthew Cook, among other unique items. The collection, owned by Bob Newton of Farmville, will be on display through spring.

Based out of Greenville, the Green Grass Cloggers have been entertaining audiences throughout the United States with their unique style of traditional folk clogging for over 40 years.

Dancers include Ashley Lewis, Brittany Reddington, Chad Smith, Erica Sanderson, Gayle Rulifson, Jamie Wetherington, Joshua Lewis, Julia Mackenzie, Larry Carnes, Laura Challender, Leanne Smith, Leslie Vincent, Marie Patterson, Mike McCraw and Natalie Stewart.
