Buffalo Creek String Band

Location: R.A. Fountain

from the October 2, 2008 FAD

Buffalo Creek String and, an old-time country quartet from Concord, makes its first performance at Fountain General Store this coming Friday night.

Buffalo Creek is fronted by Annie Griffey and Joy Moser, whose harmonies highlight their covers of old-timey country classics by such artists as the Carter Family, Kitty Wells, Hazel Dickens, and Ola Belle Reed.

The band includes Jackie Burgess on fiddle and banjo, Griffey on bass; Moser on guitar, bass and Dobro; and Scott Dixon on banjo, mandolin, and guitar.

Burgess and Griffey performed together in the Stanly County Boys. Moser and Dixon were formerly in the Cold Creek Ramblers.

Their debut CD, Weary Woman Blues, boasts “solid instrumental sound,” according to the Old-Time Herald: “well-done” its reviewer said.
