Description
Alex Albright‘s 2013 history of the first African-Americans to serve in the modern Navy at general rating. Most were students at NC A & T College in Greensboro when they mustered in to service in Raleigh on May 27, 1942 as musicians. Duty stations were Norfolk, Chapel Hill, and Pearl Harbor.
