Roger Holt

Roger Holt was a retired podiatrist living in Chicago when he died in 2000.

A nationally renowned podiatric physician and surgeon, he founded Holt Podiatry Associates, January 1994.Dr Daly moved to Chicago, IL and began his professional journey as the newest member to the staff of podiatric physicians. He worked under the intense supervision of Dr. Holt for seven years, where his expertise, technical and professional skills grew stronger. November of 2000, Dr. Daly assumed the mantle of head podiatric physician as a result of the death of his mentor and teacher Dr. Roger F. Holt.

The funeral for Dr. Roger Franklin Holt Sr., formerly of Greensboro, were held Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Cage Memorial Chapel, Chicago, Ill.Dr. Holt was a graduate of James B. Dudley High School and N.C. A&T College (now A&T State University). He was accepted to Northwestern Institute of Foot Surgery and Chiropody. Afterwards, he received his doctor of surgical chiropody.

During his college years, his love for music was a source of inspiration. He became an accomplished trombonist and played in several local jazz bands.

In 1942, he was drafted into the U.S. Navy. Armed with his trombone, he became one of the members of the First Black Naval Band Unit.

He was a member of the American Podiatry Association, Illinois Podiatric Society, Cook County Podiatry Association, Citizens Committee First Congressional District (Chicago, Ill.), Delta Sigma Chi Alpha Chapter, Podiatry Fraternity, Registry of the American Medical Technologists, Medical Opportunities Program of the University of Illinois, Legislative Interest Committee of Illinois Podiatrists, Midwesterners Social Club and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.

Two sisters, Carolyn Holt and Helen Holt Alexander, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille; daughters, Sandra Moore, Shirley Harris, Carolyn Bynum and Michele Holt; sons, Roger Holt Jr. and Stephen Holt; brother, Dr. Harold Holt and sister-in-law, Gloria Holt; sister, Clara McRae; grandsons; granddaughters; great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
