The Reverend William Marshall Treadway, IV, 87, died Thursday morning June 22, 2000, at his family’s home in Mebane NC, from complications related to Alzheimer’s disease.

He was the son of the late William Marshall Treadway, III and Cora Whitmore Tredway of Chatham, Va. Rev. Tredway was ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in June 1966.

He served churches in the Wilmington, Appamattox, Albemarle, and New Hope presbyteries. He retired from the ministry in 1982.

Rev. Tredway is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William Marshall “Buck” Tredway, V and Kirsten Hentz Tredway of Mebane, and a grandson, William Marshall Tredway VI, also of Mebane, along with a multitude of nieces, nephews and life-long friends.

He was preceded in death on February 16, 1997, by his wife, Freddie Sue Sexton Tredway, of Sparta, N.C. Rev. Tredway was the last living member of a family of five siblings; Marjorie Cunningham Tredway Edmundson of Richmond, Va., Alice Rebecca Tredway Overbey of Chatham, Va., Robinet Whitmore Tredway of Richmond, Va., and Fredrich Milton Tredway of Richmond, Va.

 Funeral services at the Sparta Presbyterian Church, on Tuesday, June 27, at 11 a.m. Interment  at the New Haven Church of the Brethren in Twin Oaks. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association or The Hospice League of Alamance-Caswell.
