This workshop for all ages and talent levels explores ways to get the most out of the voice you have. Using and learning some traditional songs, we’ll lean into style, rhythm, vocal range and pitch, and incorporate some harmonies for those interested. No singing expertise required – just a love of singing and an open heart—but be prepared to sing a lot!

Kari Sickenberger has been coaching and leading singing classes and workshops since 2004. With Laurelyn Dossett, she is a founding member of the original roots country band Polecat Creek. And with musical partner Vollie McKenzie, she sings country and honky tonk in various configurations. Among her four albums is one recorded with WV musicians Ginny Hawker and Tracy Schwarz. She’s toured with them and a host of others. Her workshops draw on her experience as a Spanish and English teacher and her lifelong love for and experience with traditional and original roots music to create a safe and encouraging environment for new and experienced singers alike.
