from our promo for this concert

Damascus Ridge, from the central piedmont, is an excellent quartet of pickers who have dedicated their musical lives to playing bluegrass gospel music.

Guitarist Frank King has been playing and singing since his early teenage years. A Raleigh resident, he writes most of the band’s original material.

Greg Taylor, on bass, lives in Apex; he sings tenor and baritone.

“Joe Pessolano is one of the best mandolin pickers we’ve had the pleasure of hosting,” said Albright. “He’s been here with several bands.” Pessolano has now added Dobro to his repertoire. He does most of the band’s arrangements, and he also sings tenor and lead vocals. He lives near Angier.

On banjo is John Dudley, who most recently played Fountain with the Boys from Carolina. He also plays guitar and adds baritone harmony to the band’s vocals.

Damascus Ridge formed in 2008 and has released three CDs, all of which will be available for purchase at their October 27 concert, which begins at 7:30. General admission is $10; reserved seats, $12.50.
