The Malpass Brothers return to Fountain General Store for a Friday night concert of classic country, hillbilly, and traditional bluegrass and bluegrass gospel.

The Malpass Brothers, from Goldsboro, usually sell out their Fountain appearances, said Alex Albright, Fountain General Store proprietor: “This is always a fantastic show, always different, and always a lot of fun.”

Chris and Taylor Malpass are joined in the band by their dad, also named Chris, who plays bass. They have released six CDs, including their latest, “Memory that Bad,” on Hag Records and produced by Merle Haggard.

The brothers have been part of Haggard’s opening act on several of his recent tours and with him have performed at the Grand Ole Opry and festivals like Bonnaroo.

Recent shows have also seen them begin to incorporate more original material into their performances.

“It’s been great to watch these boys grow up and into such excellent performers and entertainers,” said Albright, who noted that they’ve been playing Fountain regularly for 8 years.
