Dixie Ridge

Location: R.A. Fountain

from our promo for this concert

Blue Moon Recording artists Dixie Ridge have had a busy festival summer promoting their self-titled debut CD, which was released in April. They were originally set to play Fountain the first night after its release, but car trouble forced that show’s cancellation.

The band was formed in 2010 by the husband and wife duo of Adam and Amanda Clifton, who co-write much of the original bluegrass and bluegrass gospel material they perform. He plays bass.

Amanda Clifton’s powerful vocals are one of the highlights of a Dixie Ridge performance.

The pickers are excellent, also: Vernon Maupin plays guitar and sings. Currently living in Concord, Va., he has played with Faron Young and Mac Wiseman, among others.

Zach Marsh learned to pick banjo from his stepfather, who performed with Jimmy Martin and the Sunny Mountain Boys.

Dobro player George Evans has played Fountain several times with Donnie Mason’s Virginia-based band, In the Tradition.
