Sutorius, Les

Les Sutorius (1938-2019) was one of the best trumpeters we ever heard in Fountain. If you could whistle it, sort of, he could play it. He was with long-time friend Steve Creech for most of the Creech Jazz All-Stars shows at RAF. He also fronted the Cypress Landing Dixie Land All-Stars, a terrific combo that further showcased Sutorius’ considerable talent.
It’s always a bonus, too, when a great player can also sing and entertain and is a great guy, to boot. He closed many a Creech show with his original take on “When the Saints Go Marching In.”
