Guitarist Gene Gilliken studied music at NC Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount. Gina Gerard studied music at ECU and accompanied Gene on flute. She was a member of the Tar River Community Band, and together, they were half of the popular local band the Missing Ingredient. They also worked together at the Upper Crust Bakery in Greenville.
Their September 2005 show at RAF included original interpretations of contemporary classics by Van Morrison, Wilson Picket, the Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, Phish, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Willie T, Joe Cocker, Boz Scaggs, and the Drifters, among others.
