Emma Dupree Day

4th annual celebration of the life and legacy of Fountain's renowned "little medicine thing"

Fountain Presbyterian Church

9:30 – 2 p.m.

Music, health screening, energizing street exercise, health screenings, bee keepers & honey demonstrations, an herbal workshop & cooking class, information on gardening, sources for healthy food from local farmers, kids crafts, fabulous hand creams & more–including a free lunch!
Activities will take place in the church fellowship hall, its backyard garden and grounds, and in the sanctuary.

Emma Dupree was an original Earth Day champion long before anyone thought of that phrase, and we’re celebrating her life & legacy with a day of activities.

When you’ve got 40 minutes, watch this 1978 documentary that follows her around her Fountain backyard with some ECU medical students.

And join us for all or a part of our fun:

9:00    Our doors open.

9:30    Aerobics!

10:00  Workshop on herbs with Joni Torres, Pitt County Community Garden Coordinator: learn about plants that attract bees & butterflies & paint a flower pot.

11:00  Music by Lightnin’ Wells & St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church

Noon   Pot luck lunch in fellowship hall. You’re welcome to bring your favorite healthy dish to share. We’ll have salad & soup aplenty.
