Willow Branch Bluegrass Band Saturday Night

[Fountain, NC] The Virginia-based Willow Branch Bluegrass Band plays original and traditional bluegrass and bluegrass gospel at Fountain on Saturday, April 7.

Willow Branch has twice been named Best Bluegrass Band by the Virginia Folk Music Association. They have performed at the Grand Ole Opry’s Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and on the prime-time CBS TV show “Sunday Morning with Charles Kuralt,” as well as at the Governor’s mansion in Richmond and at the Statler Brothers “Happy Birthday USA” 4th of July Celebration in Staunton, Va. They are also popular performers at bluegrass festivals throughout the eastern seaboard.

Although this is the band’s first performances in Fountain, two of its members, Larry Nunnery and Doug McDonald, have played Fountain General Store with the Boys from Carolina. Nunnery plays guitar and McDonald plays mandolin and writes many of the band’s original songs.

Also performing with Willow Branch are Gayle Noble on bass and Robert Noble on banjo. All share in lead and harmony vocals.

“This is a terrific band of pickers and singers in the best tradition of classic bluegrass,” said Fountain General Store proprietor Alex Albright.
