Excellent pickers & singers. Funny, too!

Acoustic Americana

Location: R.A. Fountain

The ever popular LaNelle Davis, late of the band Big Medicine, and The Bluegrass Experience’s Tommy Edwards are back in Fountain for two sets of bluegrass, old-time, country, original and traditional music performed with guitar, bass, banjo and mandolin accompaniment.

Edwards is lead singer, guitarist and humorist for The Bluegrass Experience and host of Carrboro radio Life 103.1′s “Bluegrass Saturday Night.” A professional performer for over 35 years, he has twice been named World Champion Bluegrass Guitarist. An ECU grad, he worked for 30 years in the Randolph and Chatham county schools as a teacher, coach and administrator.

Davis, from eastern North Carolina, initially was drawn to clogging, touring and performing extensively as a dancer and caller. She took up the bass when a friend moved and left one at her house, and since has performed with numerous nationally-known old-time bands and individuals.

She called numerous square dances in North Carolina and toured with the Apple Chill and Cane Creek Cloggers in the early 1980s. Retired after 30 years with Durham County Social Services, she now splits her time between playing music and making mosaics.

Guaranteed: a fun evening for all!
