Ted Jones and Tar Heel Boys Pick Bluegrass Saturday at Fountain

[Fountain, NC] Ted Jones and the Tar Heel Boys return to Fountain General Store this coming Saturday for a concert of original and traditional bluegrass and gospel music.

Based out of Smithfield, Jones is an expert mandolin picker in the cross-picking tradition of Jesse McReynolds. To go with his classic bluegrass sound and look, Jones performs on a 1929 Martin mandolin that was used in early Bluebird recording sessions in Charlotte that introduced Bill Monroe.

Jones formed the first version of his Tar Heel Boys in 2004 and has since released five CDs, including last year’s tribute to the late Roby Huffman. Joining him in his current band are his father, Ronnie Jones, on guitar; Daniel Casey on banjo; and Paul Winstead on bass.
