Steve Creech Septet

with Carolyn Myers and Jimmy Aycock

Location: R.A. Fountain

from the October 3, 2008 FAD

The Steve Creech Septet features the return of vocalist Carolyn Greene Myers and Fountain favorite Jimmy Aycock on piano.

“Carolyn’s one of the most talented singers that I’ve had the privilege of hearing and accompanying,” said Creech. “She’s got terrific stage presence and is extremely versatile in style and her repertoire.”

Myers has recently returned to Greenville to live, after a 22-year career in music education in the Chesapeake, Virginia schools. She was a featured guest soloist with the Virginia Symphony, the Virginia Chorale, and the Virginia Beach Symphony, as well as the Robert Shaw Chorale.

Saturday’s show will feature familiar ballads, swing tunes, New Orleans jazz, show tunes, gospel songs–and as always with a Creech show, lots of requests, and no doubt a few special guests, too.

Also performing with the Creech crew: Les Sutorius on trumpet, George Broussard on trombone, Keith Dobbins on electric bass, and Macon Dail on drums.
