Steve Creech Septet

featuring Carolyn Greene Myers & Jimmy Aycock

Location: R.A. Fountain

From our promo for this concert:

The Steve Creech Septet returns to Fountain General Store Friday night for a concert of jazz and Broadway standards featuring vocalist Carolyn Greene Myers and pianist Jimmy Aycock.

Possum Creek Bluegrass Band, a trio from Wilmington, plays traditional bluegrass and bluegrass gospel on Saturday night.

Creech, the Greenville guitarist and impresario, fronts a variety of ensembles that have become regular hits at Fountain General, where he performs about once a month to SRO audiences.

Friday’s featured vocalist, Carolyn Greene Myers, recently re-located to Greenville after a 22-year career in music education and performance in the Norfolk area. She has been featured vocalist with the Virginia Symphony, the Virginia Chorale, the Virginia Beach Symphony, and the Robert Shaw Chorale.

A Greenville native, Myers is the daughter of the late Admiral William Greene and Ginny Greene. She earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees from ECU’s School of Music, where she is currently an adjunct professor and president of the Friends of Music.

Also performing Friday night with Creech will be George Broussard on trombone, Les Sutorious on trumpet, Ernie Black on bass, and Earle Abernethy on drums.
