Russ Varnell & Too Country
authentic country music
the real deal in the real suits

Black Creek’s Russ Varnell is a busy man. He’s just returned  from a little tour in Texas that included performing at the Heart of Texas Music festival in Brady and opening up shows for a couple of legends,  Moe Bandy and Gene Watson.

In addition to his Russell Varnell Real Country Music tv show on WHIG-TV Rocky Mount, he’s recently begun hosting a 3-hour radio show on the Big Dawg 98.5 FM on Sundays, from 5 – 8 p.m..

Russ also has the best wardrobe of fancy suits of any act we’ve hosted, including  several designed by the legendary Manuel, the Rhinestone Rembrandt, . We never know what new suit Russ might show up wearing–usually something picked up on a recent trip to Nashville.

He’s lead vocalist, of course, with a thick catalog of classic covers, with Rick Lewis on lead guitar; B.J. Barbour, pedal steel guitar; Alton Taylor, bass; & Bobby Stainback, drums.
