NC Folklore Society

Location: R.A. Fountain

The NC Folklore Society continued its weekend in Fountain–several of the youngsters spent Friday night in the attics of R.A. Fountain & Smith-Yelverton–with a day of events that included remarks by Karen Baldwin, an overview of Fountain General Store’s history and contemporary use as a folk music venue, a tour of the Lester Gay whirly-gig collection, and a keynote address by David Cecelski.

After a Mickey’s Barbecue lunch (lots of us had Mickey’s cheese biscuits for breakfast, also), a presentation on the Beast of Bladenboro preceded the awards ceremony at which Barbara Duncan received the Brown-Hudson Award.
