Location: R.A. Fountain

Local hero Lightnin’ Wells plays all over the U.S., mostly the blues but lately he’s become one of the hottest uke players around–recently home from a west coast jaunt that was mostly uke gigs. He likes RAF for its acoustics but also because it’s so close to his home, over in the edge of Edgecombe County, that he gets to bring a lot of his instruments: a couple of acoustic guitars & a resonator; a couple of banjos; three ukuleles; a mandolin; and a harmonica.

For over two hours, he’ll pick & sing old-time, Piedmont & Delta blues, bluegrass, gospel, hokum–most anything that might’ve been popular or might be really obscure, so long as it’s before World War II.

Please note the 8 p.m. start for this concert.
