Three Jack Jenny Picks Bluegrass and Country at Fountain Saturday Night

[Fountain, NC] Karen Smedley and Three Jack Jenny celebrate the release of their debut CD at Fountain General Store on Saturday, February 24.

This Raleigh-based quintet performs traditional country, bluegrass and gospel with a mix of original tunes.

Lead singer Karen Smedley, who who also plays mandolin, began performing as a child in a family band that featured her and her two sisters on vocals. At age 7, she saw Lester Flatt and Nashville Grass, whose mandolin player Marty Stuart, she says, set her “love of bluegrass on fire.”

The band’s new lineup includes fiddler Stephen Fraleigh, guitarist Austyn Howell, Tyler Jackson on banjo; and Jason Hedrick on bass. Smedley’s daughter, Christiane–who headlined her own show at RAF last spring–will be a special guest on vocals and guitar.
