Hoot and Holler

Location: R.A. Fountain

Hoot and Holler returns to Fountain General Store this coming Saturday night for a concert of traditional and original bluegrass, old-time and Americana music.

Comprised of two multi-talented multi-instrumentalists, Hoot and Holler has just returned from a tour of England and Ireland with Bill and the Belles. They switch out instruments frequently in their energetic and entertaining shows, incorporating fiddle and banjo and guitar duets.

Mark Kilianski, who plays guitar and banjo, and fiddler/guitarist Amy Alvey spent most of 2016 driving around the US in a van, performing and looking for the best place to live and base their tours from. The easy winner was Asheville, which they now call home.

Hoot and Holler took third place in last year’s Traditional Band category at the Appalachian String Band Festival and first place at South Carolina’s state fiddlers competition.

Their debut CD, “Milkers and Hollers,” was released last year.

Hoot and Holler is playing Fountain en route to several performances at next week’s IBMA World of Bluegrass in Raleigh.
