Honey Dewdrops Play Original Americana Sunday Afternoon

“Both of our acts for this weekend are the kind we’d never get unless they were already in the area performing for a bigger audience,” said Alex Albright, Fountain General Store proprietor. [The other weekend act, Local Honeys with Grits & Soul, canceled on the day of their Saturday show–they apparently had not looked at a map to see how far we were from Asheville, where they awakened on Saturday morning.]

Sunday’s act, the Honey Dewdrops, is a Baltimore duo that was booked in North Carolina to perform several dates at the IBMA’s World of Bluegrass, which ran in Raleigh through September 29.

The Dewdrops are Laura Wortman and Kagey Parrish. They have been touring full time for nine years, playing stages and festivals throughout North America and Europe.

They also feature tight harmonies presented as part of a dynamic musical ensemble that includes clawhammer banjo, mandolin and guitars.

Their fourth CD, “Tangled Country,” was lauded in “Acoustic Guitar” magazine as a “handcrafted sound centered on swarming harmonies and acoustic guitars that churn like a paddlewheel and shimmer like heat waves on the highway.”

Their 5th CD will be released this fall.

The Honey Dewdrops’ concert on Sunday, October 7 begins at 4 p.m. General admmission is $12.50; reserved seats, $15.
