[Fountain, NC] Highway 58 plays “straight ahead bluegrass” Friday night at Fountain General Store. Saturday night, the Revelators Macabre will present a Halloween celebration concert that will also feature costume contests for kids and adults, bobbing for apples, and a public howling.
Highway 58 is “one of the best bluegrass bands you’ll hear anywhere,” said Alex Albright, Fountain General Store proprietor. Fronted by Clyde Mattocks, who also plays Dobro, the band plays what Mattocks calls “straight ahead bluegrass.”
“They’re fun and traditional and also excellent musicians,” added Albright.
New to the band is Sarah Hollis on fiddle. She joins Mattocks and long-time members John Booker on bass, Don Dunn on mandolin, Danny Morris on guitar, and Danny Grant on banjo. They all share in vocals.
