[Fountain, NC] Highway 58 returns to Fountain General Store for a Friday night concert of original bluegrass and bluegrass gospel music.

Fronted by Dobro and banjo player Clyde Mattocks, Highway 58 plays “straight-ahead bluegrass.”

“This is one of the best traditional bluegrass bands you’ll every hear,” said Alex Albright, Fountain General Store proprietor. “We spent most of last weekend at the World of Bluegrass in Raleigh, where we heard a lot of the best bluegrass pickers in the U.S. and these guys are as good as the best. It’s really great to have such talent so homegrown and local.”

Joining Mattocks in the band, which takes its name from the North Carolina highway on which most of them live, are John Booker on bass; Don Dunn on mandolin; Danny Morris on guitar; Danny Grant on banjo; and Sarah Hollis on fiddle. They all share in vocals.
