David Dyer & the Crooked Smile Band

David Dyer & the Crooked Smile Band are a talented group of veteran musicians from several of North Carolina’s finest bands. As the Crooked Smile Band, they’ve been crafting their unique style of roots-inspired alt-country since 1999 and have released 3 independent albums.

The do mostly festival dates: the Azalea Festival, Shakori Hills, BeleChere, Floyd Fest, the LEAF festival, and Lazy Days, among them, and are playing about now to support their latest record, Taproot, a gospel-inspired collection of original tunes. We’re delighted they’ve added RAF to a stop on this little tour.

David Dyer, an award-winning singer-songwriter, on acoustic guitar

Ken Weigand on bass & vocals, is also a singer-songwriter and teaching pro with Bamboo Music

Bernie Petteway on electric and acoustic guitar: a local legend popular as a session musician and formerly with several local bands, symphonies, and Broadway shows

Allyn Love on pedal steel guitar: 10 years with the Grand Ol’ Opry and touring with Brad Paisley, Sara Evans, Reba McEntire, and Steve Wariner

Fran Dyer is vocalist

Based in Raleigh, CSB has been performing regularly for the past 18 years at the NC Museum of Art, ArtSpace, Fletcher Theatre, and First Night.

Their second album, Crossroads Grocery, was produced and recorded outside San Francisco at Van Morrison’s studiio, and Morrison’s daughter, Shana, guests on three of its tracks.
