Boys from Carolina Pick Bluegrass Sat.

[Fountain, NC] The Boys from Carolina return to Fountain General Store Saturday night to present a concert of traditional and original bluegrass and bluegrass gospel.

Known for their tight 3- and 4-part harmonies as well as their expert picking, the Boys have been favorites at Fountain for over a decade.

“It’s been a while since we’ve been able to get our schedules to mesh,” said Alex Albright, Fountain General Store proprietor. “These guys put on a terrific show. They sing the sweet harmonies that you used to find a lot more with Southern gospel groups, before most of them started singing to tracks. And they also put some interesting bluegrass spins on Beatles and beach classics.”

The core of this band with over a century of bluegrass picking experience remains: Wright Young on mandolin, Chuck Schutte on Dobro, and Larry Nunnery on guitar. New members are Myles Tart on bass and Doug McDonald on banjo. Nunnery and McDonald are also performing these days with the Steeple Creek Band.
