The ‘Bugs bring their folk-fusion act back to Fountain, with their good friend & local teacher Kate Oliphant opening.

If Jerry Garcia and Tom Waits made an Appalachian music duo, it might sound a little like the husband-wife duo from Winston-Salem with one of the cleverest names on the road..

Zack & Kendra Harding blend the traditional with the trippy to create original music they call folk(ish). She was a solo act until they met; he’s a multi-talented instrumentalist. We first saw them in Micaville a year ago and are glad to introduce them to our audience.

Officially formed in 2016, they’ve played extensively throughout the U.S.–most recently at Brewgrass in Tarboro. They recently returned from a UK/Ireland tour and may have copies of their third album, Astronaut Music from Bedlam, by the time they hit Fountain.

Joining the band again this evening is Kate Oliphant, a phenomenal guitarist who lives in Winterville. She’ll open the show with a few solo selections and join in with the band throughout the evening, Her solo repertoire emphasizes women composers such as the lauded Spanish composer Gloria Villanueva and Romantic Era prodigy Madame Sidney Pratten. Kate’s a 2016 ECU grad, where she studied with Elliot Frank, and she’s also assistant director of the ECU Summer Guitar Workshop.
