Nancy and Tammy Dail and Country Roads Headline 4-Day Music Run in Fountain

[Fountain, NC] Nancy and Tammy Dail and the Country Roads Band return to Fountain General Store Saturday night for a show and concert of classic and contemporary country music.

One of the most popular dance bands in eastern North Carolina, Country Roads is fronted by the lead singing mother-daughter duo of Nancy and Tammy Dail from Raleigh. "They put on a great show," said Alex Albright, Fountain General Store proprietor. "Very entertaining, and we usually have a full house whenever they're in town."

"We especially enjoy playing Fountain," said Bowie Martin, band leader for Country Roads. "Usually we're playing for dances, but in Fountain the crowds are so attentive, it keeps us sharp."

Martin, who plays steel guitar, has released one solo CD and he produced Country Roads' CD Country Music Bill Ellis Style. He is joined in the band by lead guitarist Ronnie King, drummer Ken Dawson, Glenn Speight on bass, and John Ackerman on keyboard.

Country Roads' July 21 show begins at 7:30. Admission is $8.

The 4-day run of live music in Fountain begins on Thursday with the monthly bluegrass jam, hosted by Greenville picker Jack Wrzeskinski. "We had the best group of musicians we've had yet last time," said Albright, "but the crowd was slight." The jam is open to all levels of pickers, and admission is free.

The Natty Boh Duo brings its "family-friendly bluegrass music" show to town on Saturday night. From Waxhaw, NC, Natty Boh performs mostly original, high-energy bluegrass music. Natty Boh is the traveling incarnation of the ongoing musical project Candlewyck, of which Bluegrass Unlimited said, "picks up where New Grass Revival left off and presents a genre-busting, rock-and-roll energy that appeals to fans of Nickel Creek."

Natty Boh is the founding members of Candlewyck, Chris Emerson and Ty Bennett, who live in Charlotte.

Their July 22 concert begins at 8 p.m.; admission is $5.

Sunday's Free-at-3 concert this week features Take "2" and the Ramblin' Rose Band. This Roanoke Rapids-based bluegrass gospel band includes the sisters Jo Reese on autoharp and Wilma Hamill, who write many of the group's songs and sing; Glenwood Rose on rhythm guitar; J.B Collins on bass; Jack Hopkins on mandolin; and Eddie Walker of South Hill, Va., on dobro. Jean Rose is manager and booking agent.

Take "2" and the Ramblin' Rose Band has released three CDs: I Love You (in Red), How Far Is Heaven? and Gospel Train to Glory."

Their July 23 concert begins at 3:00 and admission is free.
