Canadian Troubadour Headlines 4-Day Music Weekend in Fountain; Country Roads Returns on Saturday Night
Dan Frechette, whose debut CD is being compared to early Bob Dylan, presents a concert of original bluegrass, Celtic, country, ragtime, and country blues this Thursday night at Fountain General Store.
Frechette, 28, lives in Pinawa, Manitoba. On this 21-date American tour to promote his debut CD Lucky Day, Fountain is one of two stops for Frechette in the south.
A Toronto Star reviewer says that on this CD, Frechette "adapts elemental folk forms to his own purpose, the likes of which I haven't heard since Dylan's first recordings."
In the last decade, Frechette has written over 1300 songs. His January 26 concert begins at 7:30 p.m. General admission is $3.

On Friday night, January 27, Jon Durham and the Forlorn Hope return for a night of Southern roots rock and alt country. Durham, who grew up in Kenly, has lived in South Carolina for several years. This is his second "homecoming" date at Fountain General Store.
Durham has recently released his debut CD, One in a Million. He plays acoustic guitar and harmonica and sings his original songs in a voice that has been described as "hauntingly powerful."
Jon Durham and Forlorn Hope's January 27 concert begins at 7:30; general admission is $5.

On Saturday night, Nancy and Tammy Dail and the Country Roads Band return for another dynamic contemporary country music show. "This is the most exciting act we get," said Alex Albright, R.A. Fountain proprietor. "It's like a Branson or Myrtle Beach type show -- very high energy and entertaining."
The Country Roads Band is led by Bowie Martin of Wilson on pedal steel guitar. The mother/daughter singers live in Raleigh. Also in the band are John Ackerman, keyboards; Ken Dawson, drums; Ronnie King, guitar; and Glenn Speight, bass.
Hear Nancy & Tammy Dail & the Country Roads Band perform "Those Memories."
The Country Roads show and concert on January 28 begins at 7:30. General admission is $7; reserved seats are $10. As of this date, 25 seats have been reserved.
